This stunning flute is made out of a ancient piece of redwood that was reclaimed from a 100 year old bridge in California. We don't know how old the wood itself is, only that the bridge was very old and the wood is older still. It is a very dense piece of redwood, a bit harder than cedar, with a deep red brown color. The flutes voice is full and resonant, truly a pleasure to play!
This flute is 30 inches long with a 1 1/4 inch bore diameter . It's 12 3/8 inches from the mouth end to the center of the first fingering hole. The fingering holes are clustered in sets of three to make them easier to play, with the first set being spaced 1 inch apart center to center and the second set being 1 1/4 inches apart center to center. there is a 2 inch gap between the first cluster of holes and the second.
