Happy with the final results, but... |

I enjoyed shaping, finishing, and adorning this flute with malachite cabochons. It now has a nice sound, but I did have to more than just shaping and finishing. The sound hole was poorly shaped due to the 2 halves not being mated up closely. Quite a bit of filling and filing solved this. And there was 'hanging chad' wood fibers in the SAC, and a roughly drilled air passage from the mouth to the SAC. The folks at a local flute circle helped me diagnose the untidy sound in the highest to tones. It was not particularly easy to clean these 2 items up. Final result - I was disappointed with the level of care put into the kit, but overcame it and now have a nice looking, very nice sounding flute. The Stellar site implies that the pre-tuned kits get the same careful construction (at least regarding the sound-producing bits) as the finished flutes. I don't think this is the case. I have a Stellar Premier E, and it's bore, air passage, SAC, and all holes are all much cleaner.
