I want to thank
you at Stellar Flutes for a wonderful
quality product. I chose the kit in "G"
as my first project, and it arrived the
week I was away on a bear hunting trip
in Maine. I started work on it mid-week
and had in complete and playing by the
weekend. The instructional DVD is an
absolute "must- have" and is wonderfully
done.
Since I brought home a great bear from
my trip, I included a "bear paw print"
on my flute, and was delighted at how
the wolf came out as well. However, I
will be replacing the wolf with a bear
and move the wolf to my next flute with
a wolf theme, leaving this flute with a
bear theme to honor the spirit of the
bear who has given sustenance to my
family, and less fortunate families in
Maine, as I could not bring all the meat
home on the plane.
Although I have been making skinning
knifes for years, this is my first try
at a flute, but certainly will not be my
last purchase from Stellar Flutes. I'm
anxious to get in the woods on a cool,
crisp fall morning to play what I feel
at the time.... from the heart...

I would like to extend to all of you at
Stellar, a heart felt Thank You.
The Kit that I ordered arrived promptly
and in great shape.
The most difficult task was trying
desperately to not "rush" through this project. The Bird
totem is carved from western cedar, an attempt to pass the
time while I waited for the kit to arrive. I am pleased how
nicely it worked into the flute. The wood burning was done
by me, and the entire flute is covered in a satin acrylic.
The tone of this flute (G) is pleasing to
say the least. It's breathy and gentle voice is one I will
enjoy for many hours unending.
Another kit was ordered yesterday, a
fitting testament to how I feel about Stellar Flutes.

(David used two pretuned flute kits to make
this beautiful drone.)
My flute came out better than I
imagined. I truly thank you all for
sharing your knowledge and
craftsmanship. My first flute was a
single (key of G, "The Fish", on
your website) and now I have a drone
(key of F#, "Two Birds"). Lily
helped me out with my order over the
phone and sent me two
matching cherry blocks and a long
strap.
I took a little material from the
middle of both flute kits before
gluing them together so it would not
be as wide. I plugged the small
breath holes and re-drilled them
closer to the new center. With such
a nice "canvas" I just had to wood
burn a few pictures. The clear
semi-gloss poly gave some pop to the
grain and the etchings.
Carving the fipples was the scariest
part of the whole operation. I
wasn't too clear on the angles but
using the pre-drilled kit as a guide
all came out great. Tuning was a
breeze on the drone side. I started
small on the holes and used the wood
burner for fine tuning.
Oh yeah, the flute sounds wonderful
as well. I love the astonished
expressions on peoples faces when
the drone kicks in and I'm playing
harmony.
