Interval #16 is also part of the minor scale, being the same as #4 only an octave higher.


What flutes play well together?
Find your flute in the left column. Count five intervals up and five intervals down. Either of those two keys will play nicely with your flute. For instance, for the key of G, D (5-up) and C (5-down) are complementary.

Also two flutes work well together if they are an octave apart.

 

A few simple musical definitions

Octave: Double or half the frequency of any note.

Interval: The range of any octave can be divided into 12 equal intervals called half steps.

Chromatic scale: Playing all 12 of the intervals in any octave.

Minor scale: Playing only the red notes shown in the chart above.
